Course Goal / Objective

To teach the basic principles of anaerobic biotechnology in addition to industrial wastewater applications

Course Content

Introduction to anaerobic treatment. Basic biochemistry and biology of anaerobic treatment. Chemical energy of organic substances. Bacterial metabolism, COD-Mass balance. Anaerobic digestion of organic materials, transformation processes in anaerobic systems, kinetics of anaerobic processes and active factors, anaerobic treatment processes. Design, operation and performance of upstream anaerobic treatment systems. pH value and stability of anaerobic beds. Advanced treatment of water from anaerobic systems.
