Course Goal / Objective

By the end of the course, students will be able to: Develop sound research questions and hypotheses, and match them with appropriate data collection methods. Understand the fundamentals of qualitative research, including Epistemological claims. Understand the validity and reliability issues in qualitative research . Assess the methodological rigor of published research. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the research process by completing a small research project. Analyze the ethical aspects of specific situations in the field, understand ethical theories, scientific research and publication ethics, as well as professional ethics in all aspects, and present a scientific research in accordance with ethical rules.

Course Content

This course aims at familiarizing the students with qualitative and quantitative research methods within EFL context, underlying epistemological and ontological assumptions, and such concepts as validity, reliability, ethics.
