Course Goal

Studies on the understanding of the relationship between form and structure in architecture and the new design concepts related to it will be studied.

Course Content

Definition of form, Classification of form. Ideas, trends and techniques that determine form. Formal Analogies. Sculptural forms. Formal similarity of architecture (form, dimension, inner-outer, structure). Facade configuration (doors, windows, decoration elements). Relationship between culture and culture. Definition of structure, classification of structural systems in architecture. Traditional and contemporary structures, Structural space fiction. Historical Development of Structure in Architecture, Effects of Structure on Design. Causes of formation of structure systems, Surface structure systems (space system, shell system, folded plate system). Relationship between structure and architecture, structural problem in architecture, approaches to structure and decoration in the 19th and 20th centuries
