Course Goal

Introducing new researchers to Turcology, providing students with critical thinking skills, motivating students to produce new ideas under the roof of the studies done so far.

Course Content

Language and history relationship, subjects and scope of language-history studies, internal-external history of language. Language formation theories, the place of Turkish among language families. Important people in the history of Turkology and Turkology works.

LO02 They will know the life and work of famous Turkologists.
LO03 Knows the theory of Turkology and Altaic languages, knows the main branches of Turkish dialects with their differences.
LO04 Knows the meaning of the word Turkish and recognizes the history of the Turks with its main lines.
LO05 Knows the historical periods of Turkish and the classifications of Turkish dialects.
