Course Goal / Objective
The program aims to train physicians who know the conditions of the country and who can provide primary health care services on child health and diseases.
Course Content
The duration of the Child Health and Diseases internship is 8 weeks. -In the first 3 days of their education in the Department of Child Health and Diseases, intern doctors are reminded of important points by reviewing the basic pediatrics topics that were explained in previous years with faculty members and experts. - The two-month training program is divided into 2 parts. Intern doctors spend one month of the training in one-week rotations in the General Polyclinic, Healthy Child Polyclinic, Intensive Care and Emergency Service. For the remaining month, they receive education in one of the branches of science. - The clinic watch is held by a team. The team includes a specialist, 7-8 assistants and intern doctors according to the assistant staff. During the shifts, intern doctors assign them to the departments according to the number of interns. During the shift, the intern doctors are responsible for the patients in the service they are assigned to. The shifts start between 16.30 and 17.00. The whole shift team finishes their daytime work at 17.00 at the latest, gathers in the General Pediatrics assistant room and divides the work. Following the division of labor, the assistant and intern doctors disperse to the services they are assigned. Intern doctors, together with the assistant doctors, make the first evaluation and follow-up of the patients at the beginning of the shift. -When the team is ready, a shift visit is made with the experts. In the specialist visit, intern doctors briefly present the patients (name, age, gender, diagnosis and problems, follow-up). -In the meeting attended by all clinical staff (faculty members, specialists, assistants, interns, students) at 08.30 in the morning on Mondays and Fridays, and at 08.15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the specialist (the head of the watch team) briefed the people in the hall about the shift they undertook. It presents the inpatients in seizures to the inpatient intern or assistant.
