Course Goal

The aim of this course is to recognize poisonous and invasive species in the Mediterranean in general, to understand the types of poisons they contain and their mechanisms of action, to increase the level of awareness of poisoning cases caused by poisonous and invasive species and to prevent poisoning.

Course Content

Introduction routes of alien invasive species, their poisons, effects on ecosystem, fisheries and public health. Characteristics of poisonous invasive species such as balloon fish, lionfish, long-spined sea urchins. Poisoning cases caused by poisonous invasive species in the areas where they settle.
