Course Goal
To have information about the political, social and cultural history of the Abbasid period and to know main sourcesand modern studies on Abbasid history.
Course Content
Political and military events that occurred during the Abbasid period, their reflections on socio-cultural life, the Abbasid state organization and institutions, intellectual movements and ideological structures during this period, important developments in Islamic Civilization such as translations, the effects of the Abbasid State on other Muslim states, the Tolunoglu, Ihshidi and Fatimid states established in Egypt during the Abbasid period.
