Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed to provide students with the ability to understand the general properties of materials for the selection of appropriate and economical materials, to apply the basic principles of test methods to be used in determining material properties, and to grasp basic information about the types of materials used in construction.

Course Content

Internal structures of materials, general description of materials, basic information about atoms, classification of materials according to their internal structures; heterogeneous, homogeneous, isotropic Properties of materials, electrical, optical properties, thermal and acoustic properties, mechanical properties, physical properties, chemical properties, materials used in construction, metal materials, stone-structured materials, soil materials, wooden materials, plastic materials.
