Course Goal / Objective

Students define berries and explain the causes and consequences of the factors affecting the breeding and cultivation of these fruit species.

Course Content

It recognizes the situation of some important berry fruits (Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Aronia) in our country. It describes the existing varieties and cultivation systems, ecological requirements, and information related to plant nutrition. Additionally, it explains the importance of breeding suitable varieties for our country's conditions and species-specific quality parameters. Finally, it compares propagation methods and current propagation techniques, as well as molecular methods used in fruit breeding, in terms of similarities and differences.
