Course Goal / Objective

At the end of this course, it is aimed that the student will be able to recognise and classify the plants used for aesthetic and functional purposes in interiors (family, genus and species characteristics) and explain some terms related to plants in general. In addition, it is expected to present general information about the usage areas of indoor plants and to have the knowledge to direct the plant design in interiors. In order to make the theoretical knowledge permanent, students are expected to design an interior project in the selected place(s) related to these plants.

Course Content

The concept of indoor plants, the aims of plant design in interiors, environmental contributions. Taxonomic classification, general characteristics of prominent families, genera, species and varieties. Usage areas and requirements and characteristics related to cultivation. Types of use in interiors on the basis of family, genus or species, environmental conditions taken into account, sample interior plant designs, visualisation.
