Course Goal / Objective

Understanding the importance of enzymes in biological systems by obtaining detailed information about their structure and functioning.

Course Content

Enzyme-substrate relationship; Vitamins; Chemical Structures of Enzymes; Cofactors and Coenzymes: Important coenzymes and the groups they transfer; Monitoring and Measurement of Enzyme Activity: Factors Affecting Enzyme Activity; Enzyme Kinetics: Michaelis-menten, Line-weaver-burk curves; Conformational Changes in Enzymes; Allosteric Enzymes; Activators and Inhibitors: topics will be presented in detail.
