Course Goal / Objective

The objective of the Economic Sociology course is to encourage students to understand how economic theories and social structures influence each other. While studying fundamental concepts such as capitalism, economic inequality, the labor market, globalization, and consumer culture, it aims to analyze the impact of economic processes on social structures and relationships. The purpose of the course is to comprehend the interactions between economy and society and to enable students to assess socio-economic issues in a social context.

Course Content

The course explores how economic theories are shaped in a social context and the impact of social structure on economic processes. Key concepts include capitalism, social classes, economic inequality, the labor market, consumer culture, globalization, and economic institutions. The content of the course emphasizes how economic ideas transform social structures, as well as how social relationships influence economic decisions.
