Course Goal / Objective

The objective of this course is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of contemporary financial economics and the functioning of financial institutions. The course covers fundamental topics such as the structure of financial markets, the role of financial intermediaries and institutions, modern financial theories, capital markets, portfolio management, the dynamics of financial crises, financial regulations, and the monetary policies of central banks. Students will analyze current issues like the global integration of the financial system and sustainable finance, which will enhance their understanding of economic theories and practices in this field. Additionally, the course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the effective management of financial systems by examining the structure of financial crises and policy strategies to address them.

Course Content

Fundamentals of the financial system and types of financial markets, role of financial intermediaries and institutions, modern financial theories and models, capital markets and investment instruments, portfolio theory and asset management, structure and impacts of financial crises, financial regulations and institutions, role of central banks and monetary policies, global financial system and economic integration, sustainable finance and corporate social responsibility.
