Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to develop the skills to define the relationship between Ecology and Architecture, discuss design decisions that can be made with energy sensitivity in architectural design, and identify appropriate methods and techniques for environmental and energy sensitivity in building form and spatial organization. Additionally, it aims to equip them with the competencies to research, analyze, and synthesize the interactions between ecology, energy, architecture, and the built environment. Within the course, theoretical knowledge necessary for designers on the topics of environmental and energy sensitivity is acquired.

Course Content

The content of this course includes the necessity and importance of environmentally and energy-sensitive designs in architecture according to contemporary conditions, ecological designs and energy conservation in the field of architecture, the potential use of renewable energy sources in architectural artificial environments at stages such as spatial organization, building envelope, and building materials, and how these concepts are theoretically interpreted and used in design. Additionally, example designs based on regional climate characteristics are also included.
