Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, strategies, and practical applications of sustainable urban design. The course seeks to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to create urban environments that promote ecological balance, social equity, and economic viability. Students will explore how to design cities and neighborhoods that are resilient to environmental challenges, reduce their carbon footprint, and enhance the quality of life for urban inhabitants. Through theoretical knowledge and hands-on projects, the course will enable students to critically assess and implement sustainable urban solutions that address the complex needs of modern cities while ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.
Course Content
This course provides an in-depth exploration of sustainable urban design, focusing on strategies to create environmentally resilient, socially inclusive, and economically viable cities. Students will engage with the principles and practices that promote sustainability in urban environments, including land use planning, green infrastructure, transportation, energy efficiency, and climate adaptation. The course will combine theoretical discussions with practical case studies and design projects to equip students with the skills to shape sustainable urban futures.
