Course Goal / Objective

To learn ecological and physiological characteristics of weed species and the approaches to integrated weed managements to the sustainability of agroecosystems.

Course Content

Weeds could be a main pest (compete with crops, host for many other pests, poisonous…etc.) or stay tolerable population levels an any agroecosystems. If we need to manage weed population, we must know ecological and physiological characteristics of each weed species where its habitat. The weed management tools are chosen according to decision parameters such as the economic threshold level. These methods could be crop rotation and other cultural methods, mechanical weed management, cover crops, mulching, allelopathic methods, chemical control and biological weed management. All these methods and their use are the content of this course.
