Course Goal / Objective
To let the students know about mechanical damage during post-harvest technology, and to develope students ability in understanding and analysing the mechanical damage occurrence and machine-crop interaction. Further, to gain the knowledge about prevention of mechanical damage in the post-harvest technology.
Course Content
Definition of mechanical damage, form of mechanical damage, compression damage, impact damage, vibration damage (under the static and dynamic loads), measurement methods and mathematical models of damage in fruits and vegetables, elastic and plastic impact condition in the post-harvest technology, resistance against to mechanical damage, maximum allowable static and dynamic loads for agricultural materials, preventions for reducing the mechanical damage in designing the agricultural machines, computer and electronic usage in mechanical damage detection
