Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to help students perceive industrial replication methods not merely as a technical process but also as a form of artistic expression. Throughout the course, students will learn the process of shaping with industrial molds while exploring how they can conceptualize their works as art. As they gain an understanding of the mass production aspect of mold shaping, they will also integrate these techniques with artistic messages, producing unique and innovative conceptual projects. In this context, students are expected to develop not only their technical skills but also their critical thinking and artistic expression abilities. By the end of the course, each student will create an installation shaped around an individual conceptual theme and present their projects in a professional exhibition format. These projects will demonstrate how students transform industrial replication techniques into a means of artistic production, allowing them to convey their artistic vision to the audience.
Course Content
In the later stages of the course, students will begin developing their own projects, which will be shaped around a conceptual theme. Throughout the project process, students will experience concept development, research, design, and production stages, ultimately preparing their personal projects for exhibition. During this process, students will enhance both their technical knowledge and skills as well as their artistic vision, learning how to utilize industrial ceramic design as a form of art. The design process consists of several stages, including research, sketching, technical drawing, digital design, and the creation of model prototypes. One of the submitted projects is selected by the course instructor (or a jury) and proceeds to the production phase. The completed project, along with its presentation board, is then exhibited and evaluated by the course instructor (or the designated jury).
Course Precondition
Students enrolling in this course should not have any outstanding coursework related to industrial forming methods. Participants are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of industrial forming techniques and be capable of utilizing these methods as a means of artistic production in their creative practice.
