Course Goal / Objective

It aims to have knowledge and experience in the introduction, classification of fishing gear and methods used in the globalizing world and in our country, and to select suitable tools and methods for sustainable and ecosystem-based fishing.

Course Content

In this course, fishing gears, fishing rods, nets, gillnets, trawls, purse seiners, coastal drag nets, net fish, lifting nets, traps, hand-held fishing gear, auxiliary tools and equipment are under the main headings; The structure of the world and Turkey fishing industry, classification of fishing gear, fishing gear, fishing line types, longlines, net materials, gillnet types, parts of trawler, trawler mechanization, trawl types, purse seine technical specifications, purse seine mechanization, technical features of coastal drag sets, baskets , traps, pinters etc. fishing gear and the fishing methods of all these fishing gear are introduced in detail and give information about their importance for sustainable and ecosystem-based fishing.
