Course Goal / Objective
It is aimed to recognize abiotic diseases caused by environmental and physiological factors in plants, to understand their effects and to determine appropriate strategies in the management of these diseases.
Course Content
This course covers diseases caused by abiotic (non-living) environmental factors in plants. Causes of abiotic diseases, their effects on plant physiology and diagnostic methods are discussed. The course covers climatic factors (temperature, humidity, light, wind), soil properties, deficiencies and excesses of nutrients, salinity, environmental pollution, phytotoxicities and damages of genetic disorders on plants. In addition, modern agricultural techniques that can be applied for the management and prevention of these diseases are also evaluated.
Course Precondition
There are no prerequisites for the course.
