Course Goal / Objective
To teach the basic principles of sequence and seismic stratigraphy; conducting studies to evaluate sequence stratigraphy along with seismic data, and present the benefits of well data in the scope of seismic stratigraphy
Course Content
Basic concepts and definitions, basic stratigraphic relations, Principles of seismic stratigraphic interpretation, Lack of formation of beds, facies concept and facies changes, Unconformities, sudden lithological changes, Significant differences between diastem and unconformities, Basic principles of sequence stratigraphy, Basic nomenclatures and definitions in seismic stratigraphy, Seismic reflections and chronostratigraphy, Sediment patterns in sequence stratigraphy and relative sea level changes, Evaluation of seismic stratigraphy with sequence stratigraphy, Seismic-sequence analysis, Basic seismic reflections, geological meanings and facies relations, Interpretation of seismic stratigraphy and well data.
