Course Goal / Objective

Within the scope of the course, it is aimed that the participants will be able to recognize the important journalists and journalist families who shaped the field of press and broadcasting in Turkey, to comprehend the main dynamics of the journalism profession from the period when the first Turkish newspaper was published in Ottoman lands to the present day, and to discuss the identity of journalist within the framework of press-power relations and political economy of the press.

Course Content

In this course, the profession of journalism and journalist identity from the birth of the press in Turkey to the present day are discussed in the context of political, economic and socio-cultural conditions through important journalists.
