Course Goal / Objective

Being able to see and evaluate the specificity and commonality, processes and results of issues such as class, group, ethnicity, gender, identity, immigration, poverty, dependency, imperialism, hierarchical uneven development, geopolitical and social divisions, from small groups to large blocks at the national level, both at the micro and macro level.

Course Content

Stratification, horizontal and vertical divisions, power and power groups, segregation and groupings based on race, gender, language, religion, ethnicity, classes, nationalism, nationality, state, country, geographical divisions, old-new world order, environmental problems. Discussing the causes and consequences of democracy, oligarchy, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, equality and freedoms, neoliberal regulations and their social dimensions, and social and global divisions in general.
