Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to understand the ingredients, usage areas and effects of cosmetic products. It aims to teach students the basic concepts in cosmetic science and enable them to make safe and conscious product choices. In addition, it supports them to act with professional knowledge in the sector by understanding the effects of cosmetic products on the skin and cosmetic legislation.
Course Content
Definition and History of Cosmetics – Development of cosmetic products from past to present. Skin and Skin Types – Characteristics and needs of different skin types. Ingredients of Cosmetic Products – Natural and chemical components, active ingredients. Skin Care Products – Moisturizers, serums, toners and cleansers. Make-up Products and Application Techniques – Foundation, blush, lipstick, eye make-up products. Hair Care Products – Shampoos, conditioners, care masks. Perfumes and Fragrance Information – Classification of essences, notes and scents. Sun Protection Products – SPF factor, effects of UV rays. Natural and Organic Cosmetics – Properties of herbal cosmetics. Safety of Cosmetic Products and Legal Regulations – Usage safety, ethical rules. This content aims to provide students with basic knowledge in the cosmetics industry.
