Course Goal / Objective

To teach the usability of agricultural products for the production of biodiesel from various biomass samples by ethanol distillation, the use of algae and bacteria for hydrogen production, the economic and environmental effects of biofuels.

Course Content

Biofuel definition, alternative energies and environmental impact, energy production from biochemical reactions, biochemical processes for organoheterotrophic metabolism, biochemical processes for lithotrophic growth, biochemical processes for phototrophic metabolism, microbial modeling for biofuel production, bioreactors for biofuel production, raw material sources for biofuel production, ethanol production, biodiesel production, biological hydrogen production, microbial fuel cells, biological methane production, biogas components and usage areas.
