Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed to determine the artistic environment of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century by understanding the changes and reflections of the modern technology age in plastic arts in parallel with social, economic and scientific changes.

Course Content

The impact of the modern technology age on architecture, painting and sculpture, Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Futurism, Dada Movement, Surrealism, Abstract Art Movements, Art after 1945; Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Conceptual Art and Alternative Searches in Art are explained.

LO02 The reflections of the modern lifestyle, which began with the disintegration of the traditional social form, on art; within this framework, it redefines the concept of art, the work of art and the identity of the artist.
LO03 provides a socio-cultural and political commentary on the shift of the center of art to New York from the mid-20th century onwards.
LO04 criticizes the meaning and discussion of concepts such as art-anti-art, aesthetics-anti-aesthetics, post-art, etc. in the contemporary art environment.
