Course Goal / Objective
To provide students with an advanced understanding of the formulation, analysis, and evaluation of environmental policies. The course examines the interaction between science, policy, and politics in environmental decision-making and equips students with the ability to analyze policy impacts using various assessment methods and develop sustainable management strategies.
Course Content
Environmental policy formulation processes and components, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA), interaction between science, policy, and politics in environmental decision-making, cost-benefit analysis and its applications, ecosystem services analysis and its use in environmental management, scenario planning methods, market-based environmental valuation methods (carbon markets, pollutant trading, ecosystem payments, etc.), global environmental policies and governance mechanisms.
Course Precondition
Students are expected to have an advanced understanding of environmental policies, economics, and management processes.
