Course Goal / Objective

Aims to introduce the subjects of breeding and genetics issues specific to fishing which are the most important factors affecting productivity in aquaculture

Course Content

The importance of fish breeding in aquaculture, phenotypic configurations in fish, gene interactions and epistasis, Sex-linked genes and multiple alleles in fish, Additive genetic variance and estimates of the heritability, types of selection, the structure of chromosome in fish and basic principles of chromosome studies, Crossbreeding and hybridization in fish, triploidy applications and importance in fish production, gene transfer and technology in fish, methods used in gene transfer
