Course Goal / Objective
Understanding the stresses caused by abiotic and biotic factors in the cotton plant, how the plant responds to these stresses and effective plant management against stress
Course Content
A sound understanding of physiological processes and how they respond to stress is needed to formulate strategies to manage those stresses to maximize production profitability. Detailed knowledge of the effects of various stresses on the physiology of cotton is essential to an understanding of resistance and survival mechanisms for breeding for stress resistance and for formulation of improved management practices.
Course Precondition
Detailed understanding of the stresses caused by various factors such as high temperature, drought, plant nutrients, pests in cotton and comprehending the resistance mechanism of the plant against these stresses
Resources
Stress Physiology in cotton The Cotton Foundation Reference Book Series 2011
Notes
Abiotic stress tolerance in cotton From The Edited Volume Advances in Cotton Research
