Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach students the basic concepts and genres of children's literature, analyze the language, content and visual features of children's books, choose literary works that are appropriate for children's cognitive, emotional and social development, evaluate the positive and negative effects of media on child development, guide children in choosing appropriate content by providing media literacy, contribute to the awareness of families and educators about children's literature and media, and increase children's interest in literary and media content through methods such as interactive reading and creative drama.

Course Content

Definition and Importance of Children's Literature, the impact of children's literature on developmental areas, types of children's literature, characteristics of children's books, different narrative techniques, media, the effects of media on children, media literacy, family and children's literature.
