Course Goal / Objective

The aim is to maintain physical and psychosocial health of the mother, the fetus, and the newborn during the pregnancy, childbirth and after the childbirth, and to gain knowledge on midwifery necessary to develop their health, as well as to make students follow up to date information on the issues.

Course Content

Natural childbirth, the changes that occur on the mother during childbirth, midwifery care during the childbirth, the evaluation of the mother and the fetus during the childbirth, postpartum period, normal newborn, lactation, breastfeeding.

LO02 Evaluate the condition of the mother and the fetus during childbirth.
LO03 Determine the needs for care of the mother and the newborn during the childbirth, and plans an appropriate care
LO04 Perform implementation to comfort for mother during labor, and prepares the mother for the delivery.
LO05 Make to birth of the baby and the placenta.
LO06 Know the physiology of the newborn, evaluates the newborn, and takes care of the newborn's needs.
LO07 Describe the postpartum period, evaluate and follow the mother physically and pscyhologically, perform necessary actions in order to increase the health of the mother and the baby.
LO08 Explain the physiology of lactation, and the importance of breastfeeding.
