Course Goal / Objective

To provide essential knowledge of about basic human anatomy and physiology, to understand the effects of the pressure on diver, to give information about diving diseases related to increased partial pressures of gases, medical problems during and after diving, to understand the effects of immersion, to introduce principles of first aid and medical evacuation, to develop skills to manage basic neurologic evaluation, to describe medical conditions caused by hazardous marine life

Course Content

Basic human anatomy, human physiology, gas laws, shallow water blackout, diving mamalian reflex, barotraumas; ear, sinuses, lung, gastrointestinal, dental, mask and diving suit barotraumas, gas absorption, decompression sickness, oxygen toxicity, nitrogen narcosis, high pressure nervous syndrome, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide poisoning, drowning, simple neurological examination, basic life support, dysbaric osteonecrosis, hazardous marine life, hypothermia
