Course Goal / Objective

The primary objective of this course is to enable students to understand the fundamental concepts of art and aesthetics and enhance their critical thinking skills. Course Content

This course explores the concepts of art and aesthetics from historical, philosophical, and psychological perspectives, aiming to deepen students' understanding of aesthetic experience and the nature of art. Topics include aesthetic judgments, the social and individual functions of art, fundamental problems of the philosophy of art, beauty and taste, the relationship between evolutionary psychology and art, and contemporary aesthetic approaches. Students will develop a critical perspective on the nature of art by analyzing art theories, discussing philosophical texts, and critically interpreting artworks. Throughout the course, students will engage in theoretical readings, in-class discussions, and visual analyses to acquire essential knowledge about art and aesthetics.
