Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the course is to explore different models for transmedial content and to gain a critical perspective on how media exists in different formats. Starting from the concept of new media, transmedia storytelling is explained through definitions, examples and categories in the context of convergence and participatory culture. Students take an active role in all phases of a transmedia project through group work in written, audiovisual and software areas of the media.
Course Content
Transmedia refers to the integration of narratives experienced through different means of communication (radio, television, cinema, computer games, etc.). Ideally, a transmedia narrative unfolds across multiple media platforms, with each new text making a unique and valuable contribution to the whole. Transmedia focuses on strategic content creation and cross-media planning strategies for different media in an age of convergence where the boundaries between media are blurring.
