Course Goal / Objective

With this course, students will learn about the boiler types of hot water, hotter water, steam and hotter oil systems, installation equipments, system operation, water preparation techniques, chimney connections, heat exchanger types and boiler room layouts.

Course Content

Types of boilers, hot water systems, water tube boilers, steam generators, arrangement and sizing of boiler rooms, smoke channels and chimneys, safety measures and training of the operator, boiler safety equipment, heat exchangers, superheated water systems, balance tanks, pumps, steam systems, design of steam lines, diameter determination and traps, trap installations, condensate tanks, degassers, flash steam tank, boiler feed water flow chart, feed water quality in steam boilers, feed water preparation techniques, boiler chemicals, pipes and steam armatures, globe valves, safety valves, pressure reducing valves, thermostatic valves, separators, vacuum breakers, hot oil systems, armatures, safety equipment, recovery from waste heat, economizers, air heaters, flash steam recovery, heat recovery from waste water, heat from cooling waters recovery.
