Course Goal / Objective

Aim of this lecture is to teach students the age of ophiolitic rocks by radioactive age dating methods.

Course Content

The content of this lecture comprises (a) ophiolite stratigraphy and petrography of rocks used for isotopic age dating, (b) principles of K-Ar, 40 Ar/39 Ar, Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd and U-Pb isotopic age dating methodology and their application to ophiolitic rocks.
