Course Goal / Objective

To learn the mechanisms of regulation of arterial pressure with renal-body fluid system

Course Content

Pressure diuresis; effects of increased resistance on blood pressure when renal function is intact; the mechanism of the increase in arterial pressure under extracellular fluid expansion; the effects of salt intake on arterial pressure regulation; the mechanisms of development of hypertension; pressure control of the renin-angiotensin system and its role in hypertension; types of hypertension in which there are volume expansion and vasoconstriction; the integration of blood pressure regulating mechanisms

Course Precondition

To have taken the human anatomy course in the undergraduate program

Resources

Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, 14th Edition

Notes

Ganong's Review of Medical Physiology, 26th Edition
