Course Goal / Objective

Teaching various communication methods used in maritime

Course Content

Sending and receiving information with light, whistle and visual signals, giving and receiving signals with Morse code, ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communication by radio, use of international signal codes, global maritime distress and safety communication system, general introduction to GMDSS, GMDSS system operation, standards applied to ships in accordance with GMDSS, terrestrial communication techniques, local communication procedures and forms, satellite communication, COSPAS/SARSAT satellite system, Inmarsat Satellite system, emergency communication, search and rescue communication, calling for help and responding to the call for help received, transmitting the calls for help received to other stations, communication related to MERSAR, Explaining VHF, routine communication procedures, radio laws and regulations, electronics, batteries and antennas of GMDSS devices, broadcasts used on ships and their uses.
