Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the "Low Energy Architecture" course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and implement buildings that minimize energy consumption while maintaining high standards of comfort and functionality. The course will explore sustainable design principles, energy-efficient technologies, and innovative architectural strategies that reduce environmental impact. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically assess building performance, apply low-energy design concepts, and contribute to the development of sustainable built environments.
Course Content
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the principles and practices involved in designing low-energy buildings. It covers the theoretical foundations of energy efficiency in architecture, explores innovative design strategies, and introduces students to the tools and technologies used to achieve sustainable building performance. It is also about how to interpret the potential of utilizing renewable energy sources in architectural artificial environments from a theoretical perspective in stages such as space organization, building envelope, building material and how to use them in design, while sample designs are also included depending on regional climate characteristics.
