Course Goal / Objective

To give information about basic concepts related to polymers and polymerization, To give knowledge about polymerization reactions and methods, To give an ability to work individually, To adopt the importance of lifelong learning, To give an ability for experimental design in a polymer process and product characterization, To give information about industrial scale polymer products, To give knowledge about polymer processing methods and calculations.

Course Content

Tissue engineering and polymers; polymer properties; polymer-cell interaction; polymer types: natural and synthetic polymers; polymeric composites in Tissue Engineering; hydrogels; injectable gels; thermo-responsive polymers; polymeric scaffolds; polymeric delivery systems.
