Course Goal / Objective

These courses generally cover both theoretical knowledge and practical applications and aim to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the use of antiviral drugs.

Course Content

The structure of viruses, their multiplication cycle and pathogenicity mechanisms, how antiviral drugs work, how they prevent viruses from multiplying, classification of different antivirals such as nucleoside analogues, protease inhibitors, integrase inhibitors and examples are given, the effects of antiviral drugs on influenza, HIV, hepatitis, herpes and other viral infections and treatment protocols, potential side effects of antiviral drugs and interactions with other drugs, how viruses develop resistance to antiviral drugs and management of this resistance, new antiviral treatment strategies, treatment approaches and research are included.

Course Precondition

It provides general information about the structure and functions of viruses, concepts related to their biology and pathogenicity, the effects, mechanisms and side effects of drugs, and the pathophysiology of viral infections.
