Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce students to basic organic chemistry reactions and to provide them with the fundamental principles for synthesizing simple organic compounds from suitable precursors.

Course Content

In this course, fundamental organic chemistry reactions, the basic principles of organic synthesis, retrosynthesis, β-hydroxy carbonyl and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, pericyclic reactions, synthesis of 3- and 4-membered ring compounds, and functional group transformations are covered.
