Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide prospective mathematics teachers with theoretical and practical knowledge on how to use geometry and measurement effectively in their lessons.

Course Content

Historical development of geometry; Van Hiele levels of thinking; basic geometric concepts, geometric structures, geometric objects; congruence and similarity; transformation geometry, projection, patterns and ornaments, fractals; Pythagoras theorem; nature of measurement; teaching the topics of measuring time, length, area, volume and angle (organizing course content - using appropriate teaching materials and strategies, etc.); student knowledge of these topics (understanding and interpreting student thinking about concepts; knowing student difficulties, errors, misconceptions and their causes); the relationship of these topics with daily life and other courses. ); student knowledge of these topics (understanding and interpreting student thinking about concepts; knowing student difficulties, errors, misconceptions and their causes); the relationship of these topics with daily life and other courses
