Course Goal / Objective
hazardous materials are transported all over the world. These transports are carried out using many different modes of transportation. The transport of hazardous materials begins by road, is carried to the port by rail, then transferred to another continent, and may continue by air to reach another country. During transport, various hazards arise, leading to problems. Therefore, transportation must be carried out worldwide according to commonly regulated laws and rules. On the other hand, hazardous materials and substances can be offered to the market after being packaged in a way that prevents leakage, escape, spillage, contamination, and similar risks, in compliance with the provisions of the Dangerous Goods Transport Regulation and under normal storage and transportation conditions. The purpose of this course is to teach the risks involved in the transport and storage of hazardous chemicals, both in national and international transportation, as well as the general and special rules for transporting hazardous materials, and the general principles for safely storing hazardous materials.
Course Content
This course will cover topics such as international agreements related to the transportation of dangerous goods, the ADR scope, the obligation to obtain permission, the general characteristics of dangerous goods (chemicals), and the special rules for their transportation. It will also include the responsibilities of the consignor, the loader, and the packager, criminal liabilities, the selection of suitable transportation modes for dangerous and special goods, the use of signs, packaging instructions, and labeling. Furthermore, the course will address the general characteristics of storage volumes, general rules to be followed in places where dangerous goods are stored and produced, definitions of hazardous areas, and restrictions in those areas.
