Course Goal / Objective

To information about open pit and underground mining machines, developing the necessary understanding to choose the best machines for the selected underground operation; to teach performance and capacity calculations of mining machines and developing the necessary awareness on how to efficently work with mining machines without jeopardizing the safety and health regulations. To introduce some excavating machinery's equipment and technology used in mining, galleries, tunnels and engineering constructions, and determine properties affecting machinery efficiency and supporting optimum machinery selection.

Course Content

Surface mining machines, Underground mining equipment and complexes; continuous mining machines, roadheading machines, tunnel boring machines, bolting machines, Mobil miners, lodeers and belt conveyors. Gallery and tunneling machines, hammers and chisels used in open and underground pits, cutting principles,rock properties that affect the efficiency of the machine
