Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to raise awareness about the presence and role of viruses in space, help students understand microbial adaptation mechanisms in extreme environments, and explore the intersection of virology and astrobiology.
Course Content
Astrovirology explores the presence of viruses in space, how microorganisms evolve in space environments, and the role of viruses in astrobiology. This course covers virus adaptation to extreme conditions, the panspermia hypothesis, the potential for life on Mars and other planets, viral threats in space travel, and future astrobiology missions.
