Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide graduate students with the knowledge and skills in the creation, writing, reading, interpretation and use of medical terms in terms of body systems by enabling students to correctly define and explain complex concepts of anatomy and to use correct terminology in communication.

Course Content

This course covers topics such as introduction to anatomy, general definitions, introduction to terminology, general rules in the creation of medical terms, terminology related to musculoskeletal system, terminology related to digestive system, terminology related to respiratory system, terminology related to cardiovascular system, terminology related to urinary system, terminology related to genital system, terminology related to endocrine system and terminology related to nervous system.

LO01 Students distinguish the historical development of anatomy terminology and the basic linguistic knowledge of the field.
LO02 Describe anatomical structures or formations, using Terminologia Anatomica correctly and effectively.
LO03 Defines anatomical positions and directional terms and relates them to various anatomical aspects on an anatomical basis.
LO04 makes a systematic classification of the human body, skeletal system, organs and structures, and correctly distinguishes general anatomical concepts, different categories in the language of anatomy.
LO05 defines body planes and axes and anatomical terms.
LO06 Evaluates current research on anatomical concepts and terminology in the literature from a critical point of view.
LO07 Writes a research report on anatomy in accordance with the rules related to anatomical concepts and terminology.
LO08 Analyses the current literature on anatomy and uses it effectively with a critical perspective for the correct use of anatomical concepts and terminology in scientific research and academic writing.
