Course Goal / Objective

The aim of the Thoracoabdominal Region Topographic Anatomy course is to understand the structural relationships between the thorax and abdomen, the organs, large vessels and structures located in this region and to use this information effectively in anatomical applications.

Course Content

The Topographic Anatomy of the Thoracoabdominal Region course provides a comprehensive review of the location of the anatomical structures of the thorax and abdomen, the relationships between organs, and the anatomically and clinically important structures in this region.

Course Precondition

There is no prerequisite for the course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 explains in detail the anatomical positions of the organs in the thoracoabdominal region and the topographic relationships between these organs.
LO02 Identifies the anatomical boundaries of the thorax and abdomen and accurately defines the layout and boundaries of the organs in these regions.
LO03 Identifies the major vessels and major nerve structures in the thoracoabdominal region and relates the anatomical passageways of these structures on an anatomical basis.
LO04 correctly discusses the anatomical location and functions of muscular structures in the thoracoabdominal region (e.g. diaphragm, intercostal muscles, abdominal muscles).
LO05 Explains in detail the location of the internal organs (heart, lungs, stomach, liver, intestines) in the thoracoabdominal region and the relationship of each organ with the surrounding anatomical structures.
LO06 Evaluates the fascial structures of the thorax and abdomen (fascia thoracolumbalis, fascia abdominalis) and the relationship of these structures with organs and their clinical importance with a critical perspective of current research on anatomy in the literature.
