Course Goal / Objective
The purpose of this course is to gain basic knowledge, skills and competences for designing of products and systems, optimize the working and living environment and improve quality of life including health, safety, comfort, aesthetic and sustainablility in order to match humans anatomical, anthropometrical, biomechanical, physiological, cognitive and psychological capabilities and limitations, in particular, from the viewpoint of textile engineering.
Course Content
The course contents address ergonomics knowledge with particular emphasis on industry engineering: The basic concepts of ergonomics (definition, contents, historical background, and its interdisciplinary character), systems and modelling, anthropometric and biomechanical modelling, man-machine systems, design and arrangement of controls and displays, human senses and work environment, physical space arrangement in workplace, physical workload and energy expenditure, fatigue and resting time, job design and time study, work health and safety, physical and mental performance, psychological and social dimensions of ergonomics. Ethical and professional issues are also addressed throughout the course.
