Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to introduce current theories in the field of career development and to improve students' theoretical knowledge by making them understand the basic concepts, principles and application areas of these theories. In addition, it is aimed for students to develop flexible and holistic intervention approaches that take into account individual differences, social context and variations in working life in career psychological counseling processes. Students will gain the ability to provide effective career support services to individuals by analyzing current models such as career structuring, social cognitive career self-management, work psychology, and hope action theory. In addition, it is aimed for them to learn strategies for coping with uncertainty and change through postmodern approaches such as systems and chaos theory.
Course Content
Türkçe This course aims to provide an in-depth introduction to contemporary theoretical approaches in the field of career psychological counseling and career development. Students will learn to understand how individuals direct their career lives in the light of current theories that explain the individual, social and environmental factors that affect career development. It is also aimed for them to gain competence in how theoretical knowledge can be used in applied career counseling processes. In this context, the course content is structured as follows: 1. Introduction to Current Career Development Theories 2. Career Structuring Theory 3. Social Cognitive Well-Being and Social Cognitive Career Self-Management Theory 4. Work Psychology Theory 5. Relational Work Theory 6. Brott's Career Story Theory 7. Brown's Values-Based Career Theory 8. Hope Action Theory 9. Solution-oriented Career Psychological Counseling Model 10. Career sailboat model 11. Systems Theory 12. Career Counseling Based on Chaos Theory
